Before having a silencer

…. and after!

YES! You may legally own a silencer!

YES! You may legally hunt with a silencer!

YES! Mankato Guns sells silencers and works with you to get the paperwork processed.

The two biggest hiccups are: 1-Silencers require a $200 tax stamp to be transferred to you and 2-it takes 6-9 months for the ATF to approve the transfer. To simplify the process Mankato Guns has coupled with Silencer Shop.

So there are three basic ways to buy a silencer

1. From Silencer Shop
2. From Mankato Guns
3. From another seller using Mankato Guns to facilitate the transfer

1-From Silencer Shop

This is a streamlined process and there are no transfer fees in addition to the NFA tax stamp.

Steps involved:

1. Buy your silencer at Silencer Shop and pay the transfer tax ($200 for silencers, $5 for short barrelled rifles and/or shotguns)
2. Register at Silencer Shop
3. Forward a copy of your fingerprints to Silencer shop, you can get finger prints taken at the local police department or sheriff’s office for a nominal fee of about $10-20.
4. You will receive an email with some documents to electronically sign.
5. The rest of the paperwork is done by Mankato guns and Silencer Shop, so now you just have to wait the 6-9 months.
6. Once your final approval is received we will call you to come pick up your silencer at Mankato Guns.
7. Silencer shop has a money back guarantee, if you are not satisfied with your silencer, you have 30 days from the date of final approval to return it for a complete refund, including your $200 tax stamp.

2-From Mankato Guns

If the silencer is rare, or not available through silencer shop, call Toby at Mankato Guns (507) 382-1167 or email tobias@mankatoguns.com and he will track it down for you. If you buy your silencer through Mankato Guns, you do not have to pay a transfer fee in addition to the NFA tax stamp.

Steps involved:

1. Buy your silencer from Mankato Guns.
2. Register at Silencer Shop, and pay the NFA tax stamp.
3. Forward a copy of your fingerprints to Silencer shop, you can get finger prints taken at the local police department or sheriff’s office for a nominal fee of about $10-20.
4. You will receive an email with some documents to electronically sign.
5. The rest of the paperwork is done by Mankato guns and Silencer Shop, so now you just have to wait the 6-9 months.
6. Once your final approval is received we will call you to come pick up your silencer at Mankato Guns.

3- Buy from another seller using Mankato Guns to facilitate the transfer

Since Mankato Guns is acting as a transfer agent for the seller, we charge a $125 transfer fee.

Steps involved:

1. Buy your silencer and have it shipped to Mankato Guns.
2. Register at Silencer Shop, and pay the NFA tax stamp.
3. Forward a copy of your fingerprints to Silencer shop, you can get finger prints taken at the local police department or sheriff’s office for a nominal fee of about $10-20.
4. You will receive an email with some documents to electronically sign.
5. The rest of the paperwork is done by Mankato guns and Silencer Shop, so now you just have to wait the 6-9 months.
6. Once your final approval is received we will call you to come pick up your silencer at Mankato Guns. You are expected to pay the $125 transfer fee at time of pick up.
